Oglala Dam Remediation
Tepa is the prime contractor for the remediation of the Oglala Dam project, which includes the rehabilitation of the service spillway, emergency spillway, embankment dam, and outlet works at the dam. Originally constructed in 1938, the earthen dam was deemed unsafe after a 2019 flooding event, leading to the draining of Oglala Lake and the redirection of water around the spillway. The new dam will mitigate flood risks in the local area and support the rehabilitation of Oglala Lake. While not previously used as a drinking water source, the restored lake will provide recreational opportunities for the Oglala Sioux Tribe.
