47th BCT Power and Communications Infrastructure

Client:  USACE, Omaha District
Location: Fort Carson, Colorado
Contract Value:  $3M

The 47th Brigade Combat Team (BCT) Power and Communications Infrastructure project involved the design-build design, construction and installation of a substation and communications node at Fort Carson, Colorado. The Tepa team moved all of the electrical lines from overhead to underground. The team used a custom-made switchgear and a 34.5 KV line tied to the main city grid to re-feed circuits #10, #13 and #14 on the installation and Evans Army Community Hospital. 

The project also involved the following:

  • Three miles of a circuit (Circuit 11) out of the new substation, including all communications lines, primary vaults, switchgears and transformers
  • Evans Army Community Hospital re-fed out of a new substation through Circuit #14
  • Street light poles
  • All communications pathway conduit
  • All concrete duct bank
  • All conduit piping for the primary MC350 cable and cable installation
